It is now Thursday and I cannot believe that we have already been on expedition for nearly a week. Today has been a bit of a rest day for the team and we have been pottering around, buying last minute things that we need up the hill, and relaxing prior to the very busy days ahead.

I really enjoyed our joint conference with the Mountain Medicine Society of Nepal. I hope they got as much out of it as we did. Dr Santosh Baniya did an amazing job of organising it with the help of Binod, and oversight from our Advisory Board member, Professor Buddha Basnyat. Sarah has been tweeting over the course of the conference and as a result we are looking forward to a visit tomorrow from Sophie Wallace, a medic working with the company Adventure Consultants.

Tonight I am looking forward to meeting our collaborators from the University of Nebraska for the first time - face to face. They are expected to land at Kathmandu airport this evening and I will be setting off to meet them accompanied by Prajan from Summit Trekking. Then, tomorrow we will be hauling them out of bed bright and early, despite significant jet lag, to help us set up the laboratory in preparation for testing our first subjects on Saturday.

Tonight will be the last night that many of our trekkers will be spending on their home soil as they set off from London Heathrow at 9pm tomorrow evening. We wish them and all our other trekkers and collaborators safe journeys and look forward to meeting them at the Summit hotel. The count down for the start of our next research trek is well and truly on.
