Helen McKenna is an anaesthetic trainee and research fellow at the University College London (UCL) Centre for Altitude Space and Extreme Environment Medicine (CASE)

She is currently carrying out a translational research project at the Royal Free Intensive Care Unit, based on the discoveries from the previous Xtreme Everest expeditions. This involves testing the sickest patients in the hospital. This is her first exposure to high altitude.
