Kay
Kay is a key member of the team organising medical research expeditions at the University College London (UCL) Centre for Altitude Space and Extreme Environment (CASE) Medicine.
These have included the Caudwell Xtreme Everest expedition (2007) and Xtreme Everest 2, which took place in March 2013. These expeditions involve using healthy volunteers to improve our understanding of the effects of hypoxia, and thus development treatments to improve outcomes. A key feature is the use of CPET to examine oxygen efficiency and utilisation, and Kay helped deliver CPET testing on a number of the expeditions.

Knowledge Kathmandu
2nd Apr 2017 // It is now Thursday and I cannot believe that we have already been on expedition for nearly a week. Today has been a bit of a rest day for the team and we have been pottering around, buying last minute things that we need up the hill, and relaxing prior to the very busy days ahead.
Terrace Time!
28th Mar 2017 // I am sitting on the terrace of the Summit hotel, Kathmandu. Those of you who have been here before will remember what a magical place this is. We have finished dinner - Thai Vegetable curry for me - and are relaxing after a great day at the Shangri La hotel. We were there holding the Tenth Anniversary Caudwell Xtreme Everest conference in conjunction with the Nepalese Mountain Medicine Society. Tomorrow, we return to hold the second day, which will include presentations from both Xtreme Everest speakers and friends, and local experts of mountain medicine and infectious diseases.
