It’s been over a year since the Xtreme Everest trekkers completed the 10th Anniversary Trek. Since that time the project has published papers and articles, featured in magazines, streamed live symposiums from abroad and given keynote lectures.

Closer to home, since her return one of our trekkers, Liz Mooney (first featured in XE News back in February 2017), has been continuing her quest to raise funds and awareness about the project.

She has presented about her trek experiences to colleagues at University College London and also to her local Women’s Institute with a talk entitled ‘Everest Base Camp: One Women’s Guide’. Armed with her kit bag and essential items she takes her audience through the highs and (occasional) lows of the 17-day expedition and the joys of being a test subject in the various non-invasive experiments on the way!

Her JustGIving page raised £700 for Xtreme Everest and hopes to raise more with further talks planned in her local area. If you would like Liz to come and speak at your event please see her website for contact details.

Liz's next adventure will see her travel to Ethiopia and work as a journalist on an English language newspaper in Addis Ababa with Projects Abroad. The Xtreme Everest team wish her lots of luck for this next adventure and thank her for all her hard work and support for our research.
